Eating Disorders/ Disordered eating

Shana believes strongly that dieticians play a vital role in eating disorder treatment and recovery. The role of a dietician is to assist with the process of normalizing the relationship with food while supporting nutritional needs, aiding the client to reduce dietary or food obsessions and supports behavioural changes around food and eating behaviours.

For our privately-seen clients this process is most effective when done in conjunction with a qualified psychologist. A psychologist can best aid with the processing of any challenging emotions that may arise during the journey.

Your dietician may be able to refer you to a psychologist in your area should you require one.

Whether inpatient treatment or outpatient care, a person in recovery needs a lot of support and the dietitian aims to meet them where they are at when it comes to eating recommendations.

Initial and all follow-up appointments are ideally scheduled weekly for 45-60 minutes per session.
